Destination interorganizational network mapping
Possibilities for the development of event tourism in Juiz de Fora – MG
Abstract
The development of tourism in destinations is directly linked to the relationship networks formed by the components of the sector, mainly by the organizations responsible for tourism supply. However, what is observed in most destinations is a fragmented and dispersed network, with isolated actions and without integrated planning. To create strategies capable of changing this reality, it is necessary to map and analyze the network structure formed in each destination. In this sense, the present article offers a methodology for the mapping and analysis of the interorganizational networks of event tourism, through a study carried out in the city of Juiz de Fora (Minas Gerais - Brazil). Objectively, a quantitative research based on the social network analysis methodology, supported by the citation analysis technique, was carried out among 37 local tourism organizations, including public, private and civil society organizations. As a result, it was possible to map a structured network in 176 organizations, identify the most influential actors in each segment and suggest the formation of collaborative working groups by segment to pursue the sustainable development of the destination, based on the strategy of “coopetition” in tourism. events.
