Abstract

This study aims to relate the dimensions of lifestyle, tourism and overall satisfaction with the word-of mouth, in the area of Alqueva (Alentejo, Portugal). In this research, the lifestyle tourism is analyzed taking into account five dimensions: attraction, centrality to lifestyle, food, identity with the local wine and sports. After the literature review and in order to test the relationships, we developed a questionnaire that was applied to the tourists as they prepared to leave. The results show that the local attraction, the extreme sport activities, and gastronomy significantly and positively influence the satisfaction and the word-of-mouth. The results also allowed some considerations for local managers and propose suggestions for future research. We can point out two aspects about the originality of this research, the fact that the centre of development of Alqueva is still scarcely studied and the lack of studies that attempt to relate the tour lifestyle with overall satisfaction and word-of-mouth.
