Literary tourism and Soft Power an analysis from Jane Austen’s novels

Abstract
Literature as a strong artistic and cultural expression is capable of providing to readers images and imaginaries strong enough to make they become tourists. Considering that Soft Power consists of a subtle form of power with a greater influence on the image of cities and/or nations, the main objective of this article is to analyze the presence of Soft Power in experiences originated from Tourism and Literature. From this perspective, it will be conduct a theoretical study, covering national and international authors who contribute to the issue at hand, in addition to a connection between Jane Austen’s works and British Soft Power. This study shows that Literary Tourism can be an important instrument to a nation’s Soft Power.
