The accessibility in historic cities: a study in the historic center of São Luís - MA
Abstract
This work discusses the accessibility for wheelchair users tourists in cities Historical Heritage cities, given the invisibility of these people in these spaces. It aims to draw attention to the importance of accessibility and the conditions of access to the historic center of São Luís, taking into account the specific characteristics of the historical cities. It is intended to awaken the community, professionals, managers and entrepreneurs about the importance of adaptations and accessible routes for people with disabilities. The study is supported on literature and field research. During the research, we intend to balance the law of persons with disabilities and legislation that protects the heritage to arrive at viable solutions, in which neither of these areas feel aggrieved in their rights. The results aim to awaken to the debate on viable alternatives for the development of accessible tourism in historical cities, capable of achieving in ways that respect and do not cause any illegality to the laws of the various areas.
