Turismo e sustentação do património arquitectónico – uma relação de conveniência?

Abstract

The paper evolved from the assessment of a unanimous speech around the virtues of culture´s (here represented by architectural heritage) coexistence and articulation with tourism. To develop this study we examined 29 tour operators’ programmes which refer to the North of Portugal and combine both councils, Amarante and Vila Real in their tours. These conclusions led us to a field research, which focused on local tourism demand, based on inquiries, whose analysis gave us some knowledge on their behaviour and opinion about the use of architectural heritage.
