Abstract

Firms searching for quality are involved in a dynamic context in which different quality standards, certifications and quality distinctions are developing. This work analyzes if having a quality distinction in rural tourism implies positive effects regarding the client’s perceived quality, the client’s satisfaction and business results. The empirical results lightly support that better results are obtained by rural lodging establishments that have a quality distinction. In particular, significant differences were found concerning the client’s perceptions of the tangible elements, and the perceived price, but not regarding the real price or the rest of the variables.
