(Digital Literacy in Depression with University Students: Methodological Design for Evaluating an Intervention)
Abstract
(Digital health literacy relates to practices and competencies that comprehend social and cultural values and act on the technological context. Digital interventionscan be used to support education and health promotion programs. DEEP is a digital psychoeducational intervention, based on audio-visual resources, that is conceived to provide a set of tools that may help Portuguese University Students get to know the phenomenon of depression as an illness better. There are still gaps in literature, regarding studies reporting the methodological design of this type of interventions. This paper describes the methodological design conceived to assess the impact of DEEP intervention on Portuguese students’ knowledge of depression. DEEP randomized study comprehends four stages: a pilot study, the recruitment of participants, making the intervention available and the follow-up. This methodological design is aimed at assessing the efficacy level and the contribution of the narrative that integrates DEEP intervention, as a tool for literacy in depression. The described methodological design is also considered for its adequacy as for promoting in-depth knowledge of the methodological approaches that best suit the domain of the developed study.)
