A Metáfora da Esfera Sonora desde a Perspectiva WYDIWYHE
(The Sound Sphere Metaphor from a WYDIWYHE Perspective)
Abstract
A proporcionalidade espaço-tempo; 2. As temporalidades flexíveis; 3. O isomorfismo; 4. A manipulação direta; 5. A abstração semântica; e 6. As propriedades relacionais.
(WYDIWYHE - / uidiuirri / (what you do is what you hear) - is an interaction design perspective that arises from ecologically grounded ubiquitous music creative practices. We report the results of two studies using the Sound Sphere Metaphor and describe the multiple iterations of the implementation process, as a way to exemplify the WYDIWYHE theoretical-methodological approach. In SoundSphere, our design strategy consists in maintaining the alignment between the participant action, the visualization of her action, and the resource availability for future actions. In this sense, we do not focus just on the relationship between the action and the sonic result, we also target the visualization of the action performed. The results indicate viable strategies for the design process, including: 1. Space-time proportionality; 2. Flexible temporalities; 3. Isomorphism; 4. Direct manipulation; 5. Semantic abstractions; and 6. Usage of relational properties. We discuss the implications of this proposal for the field of ubiquitous music and point to open questions highlighted by the experimental results.)
