Abstract

This investigation analyzes the specific skills and abilities of Natural Sciences, in the context of high school, as presented at BNCC, from the perspective of the CTS. In this context, the investigation is based on the outline of Sustainable Development Goal 04. Therefore, the core lies in exploring the potential of the STS perspective when exploring the skills and abilities present in the BNCC. The corpus subjected to analysis was skills in the area of Natural Science and its Technologies. The results showed that the CTS approach, in terms of achieving the basic purposes that support the dynamism of the educational process, supports the teaching and learning process in order to relate the scientific concept with the curricular content in view of training for citizenship. On the contrary, skills and competences seem to be more concerned with the central terms of general competences and the relationship between the concept and citizenship formation.
