This paper tries to examine part of the current situation of digital competencies of Portuguese language teachers in China, by analyzing the case of Hubei University, based on a qualitative and exploratory methodology, which involves a semi-structured interview with five Portuguese teachers from Hubei University. The results show that Portuguese language teachers have the digital competencies to meet the most basic needs of digital teaching, but they are still faced with certain challenges. In this context, we propose some implications for the creation of a favorable environment for the promotion of digital competencies of Portuguese language teachers in China.
