About the Journal

Rotas a Oriente. Revista de estudos sino-portugueses (Road to the East. Journal of Chinese-Portuguese Studies) is co-edited by University of Aveiro, through its Confucius Institute, and Dalian University of Foreign Languages (P. R. China), with the aim of promoting the publication of scientific research in the field of Sino-Portuguese studies.

The journal is published annually, has scientific arbitration (double anonymous peer review) and is open to contributions relating to Sino-Portuguese studies, within the following areas:

  • Literature;
  • Linguistics;
  • Translation;
  • Teaching and learning Portuguese and Mandarin as foreign languages.
  • Arts;
  • History of Sino-Portuguese relations;
  • Intercultural studies;
  • The "Belt and Road" initiative.

The journal publishes as yet unpublished texts, that have not been submitted to other journals, in Portuguese, English and in Chinese, under the terms of the Creative Commons License CC BY 4.0.

This is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

Submitted texts must comply with the rules established in the journal's STYLE GUIDE.

PAPER SUBMISSION
The final submission of papers for publication must be made until October 31st of each year, by submitting the paper via the platform https://proa.ua.pt/index.php/rotasaoriente (section "Submissions").

Authors should submit (or send) two files: one in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or RTF format (maximum 2MB); the other in pdf.
In this process, authors are required to check if the submission conforms to the standards established for the journal:

  • The paper is original and unpublished and is not under review or to be published by another journal (if not, the author should justify the situation in "Comments to the Editor");
  • The paper complies with the style standards and bibliographic requirements established in the Journal's STYLE GUIDE.

Submissions that do not comply with the guidelines will be returned to the authors.

INDEXING
The journal is aggregated on RCAAP and Open Aire and registered in Sherpa Romeo.
It is also expected to be indexed in DOAJ, Scopus, ISI and Scielo Databases.

OBSERVATIONS
There is no charge for submission, peer review, editing, online availability, and download of the articles.
A revista Rotas a Oriente (Road to the East) is guided by the ethical principles established by COPE - Committee on Publication Ethics.
All submissions where plagiarism is detected will be rejected. The URKUND/OURIGINAL tools or others are used for such detection.
