Abstract

A multidisciplinary research geared towards creating modules for different levels of linguistic analysis to be applied to an articulation synthesiser, lead us to reflect on the possible usage of abbreviations/acronyms in the teaching and learning of Portuguese as a Foreign Language (PFL). With this in mind, two main bodies were created: the first one to assess the difficulties in the saying of abbreviations/acronyms; the second one to establish a system to facilitate that process.
This is the subject we will now develop. We will show some results that, by their nature, should be interpreted as a first approach on this matter.
