Um currículo moderado

Abstract

The author of the article presents a few principal characteristics of the Course of Portuguese as a Foreign Language taught at the Silesian University in Poland and talks about his book “Portuguęs ao vivo” written for the purposes of the course. The “moderate” structure of the course and the contents of the book resulted from the course’s position relative to the remaining subjects taught at the Faculty. This is how a curriculum was designed that makes use of elements of the Communicative Methodology modified so as to stimulate discussion through topics related to philological studies and general knowledge. The author suggests that the choice of topics for discussion is as essential as the choice of grammar points or vocabulary to teach because it is through these topics that one can join language points that coincide naturally.
