Para além da frase: problemas de coesão textual na produção do PLE
Abstract
This paper is based on a corpus of 24 compositions written by PFL (Portuguese as a Foreign Language) students from 10 different countries, mainly Spain, Italy and France. These students attended the upper level of PFL Summer Course at the University of Aveiro. The subject of the compositions is “My first impressions of Aveiro”.
This research takes a Discourse Analysis approach and its main objective is to identify and explain the mistakes students make on the level of textual cohesion. We will use a theoretical framework based on the studies of Michael Halliday and others.
This analysis at the level of the text may reveal several aspects which the PFL teacher will need to be aware of whenever he/she guides students towards written text production. In fact, a well formed text requires more than just a set of well formed sentences. Their articulation demands several skills that can be taught and developed. In order to reach this objective, the teacher needs to be aware of the main deficiencies that the production of PFL speakers reveals.
