Abstract
Hélia Correia's fascination with Greek culture and literature becomes once again manifest in Desmesura. Exercício com Medeia. In this 2006 play, not only does the author reinvent the main theme of Euripides's Medea, but she also seeks to recreate the rhythm of the dialogues and lyrical sections of the original Greek text. In this article, we attempt to highlight the strategies used by Hélia Correia to replicate the stichomythia, the antilabe, the caesurae and the syncopated of the iambic trimeter, a measure used in tragic dialogues, as well as the multiple cadence of the choral songs.
