Abstract

This paper is part of the Ph.D. research in Ethnomusicology that I am developing at the University of Aveiro. The study focuses on the process of the objectification of the bombo (bass drum) which has been occurring in Lavacolhos since 2009. The results come from the fieldwork conducted between 2012 and 2014 in Lavacolhos, a small village in the Fundão municipality. According to the National Institute of Statistics, Lavacolho s has about 236 inhabitants whose main occupation is agriculture or within the service sector (INE 2011).
