Author Guidelines

Publication Process

All submitted manuscripts are initially assessed by the Editors, and, if found suitable, submitted to a double-blind peer review process. All submissions and peer review are conducted online. Papers should be submitted electronically (two files with the same text in pdf and MS Word forms) according to editorial guidelines (Template file), thus incorrectly formatted papers will be rejected.
Scholarly papers are published in the Articles section of the Nanomaterials Science & Engineering and are subject to a double-blind peer review process.
After the manuscript is submitted to the Editor, it is sent to anonymous readers for peer review. Each manuscript is reviewed by two/three independent peer-reviewers selected from the editorial board or external peer-reviewers invited to review specific submissions. Manuscripts may be rejected or returned to the author prior to being sent for peer review if scope, structure, or content is lacking sufficient quality.
Authors are notified of acceptance, rejection or the need for revision within one to two months. Articles may be returned to the author for revisions once or more.
After a manuscript is accepted, it is edited at the editorial office where it will be styled to conform to Nanomaterials Science & Engineering style, and returned to the author for approval prior to publication.
Once a manuscript is accepted for publication, the editing and production process usually takes about one month. An accepted article may not appear in the immediately subsequent issue of the journal, at the discretion of the editor.
There are no Author Processing Fees. The publication is fully open access, and no fees are applied, either to authors or readers, at anytime.

Publication ethics

Authors must not use the words, figures, or ideas of others without attribution. All sources must be cited at the point they are used, and reuse of wording must be limited and be attributed or quoted in the text.
Manuscripts that are found to have been plagiarized from a manuscript by other authors, whether published or unpublished, will be rejected and the authors may incur sanctions. Any published articles may need to be corrected or retracted.
If authors have used their own previously published work, or work that is currently under review, as the basis for a submitted manuscript, they must cite the previous articles and indicate how their submitted manuscript differs from their previous work. Reuse of the authors’ own words outside the Methods should be attributed or quoted in the text. Reuse of the authors’ own figures or substantial amounts of wording may require permission from the copyright holder and the authors are responsible for obtaining this.
Authors whose submitted manuscripts are found to include citations whose primary purpose is to increase the number of citations to a given author’s work, or to articles published in a particular journal, may incur sanctions.
