This essay aims at studying a particular literary space, namely the space of manipulation, seen as a privileged space in the interplay between Literature and power. An analysis of several Portuguese authors, preferably those situated between the nineteenth-century and contemporaneity, will sustain one’s reflection. By way of providing an historical framework for their literary output and, most of all, the reception of their works, substantiate the various levels which attest to literature as a space of manipulation.
