Abstract

Portuguese social reality has been suffering multiple changes along the years, mainly dued to the considerable wave of immigration noted. The growing number of citizens speakers of a native tongue that differs from portuguese highlights the lack of programs that facilitate and enable the integration of these citizens in the host society, allowing them access to citizenship as well as their personal and professional development. In this article we intend to treat widely diverse themes such as task-based language teaching, the analysis of the didactic manual Português XXI 2, human rights and the importance of the host society in the process of integrating Immigrants. Considering that the process of integrating adult, non-native speakers into the host society is crucial, the approach of these themes has been carried out in a way that links them, providing the target public with a strong development of their communicative competences in the target language and the development of fundamental skills to exercise their rights and duties as citizens. So, in this report it will be possible to realize the presence of the theoretical assumptions mentioned, as well as the description of activities performed in order to fill the specific needs of a given group of learners.
