Abstract

This study provokes reflections to understand what is a smart tourist destination, which is able to accommodate tourists. The methodology used was a bibliometric study, aiming to: Understand the main considerations of smart tourist destinations, delimiting its scope and analyzing how to appropriate the main concepts. The results were identification of factors that transform a traditional tourist destination in smart destination as well as the requirements to structure it. The paper presents general data destinations planning describing what are smart cities and concluding with the differences between smart cities and destinations. In the end, it was found that the focus and objectives are different from smart cities and destinations.
