Abstract

This article aims to emphasize the importance of cross-border regions as tourism destinations, due to the application of streamlined designs by different stakeholders initiative, generating growth and development opportunities for these territories, based on appreciation of endogenous resources. Concerning visitors/tourists, the main objective of the research was to evaluate the tourist behavioural intentions in the Eurocity region Chaves - Verín, framed in a border area, the designated dry region of the Portuguese- Spanish border of northern Portugal and Galicia. Particularly, the aim of this paper is to determine whether the individual’s profile of visitors and tourists or travel characteristics influence their behavioural intentions regarding the destination.
