Abstract

In the epistemological advances in tourism, it is noted that scientific tourism is still not been sufficiently studied field. In this sense, the general objective of this research was to analyse scientific tourism from dissertations and theses. The search was performed from scientific repositories of Brazil and Portugal, and seventeen works were found. The results show that: (1) there is more than a decade of scientific production involving the interface, notably in the Portuguese language; (2) there is a current search for the treatment of the subject at postgraduate level, especially in Masters courses; (3) the geographic realities addressed are diverse, including Brazil, Portugal, Mozambique and Cape Verde; (4) the textual analyses employed demonstrate the importance of deepening the study of the interface between tourism and science from the observance of the words used in the texts, and not necessarily from the search for the keyword "scientific tourism", since texts that do not present were also relevant to understand this field, as they dealt with themes that may support the study of scientific tourism.
