Abstract

Events and festivals are important promoters of cultural-tourism activity, and it is therefore worth enhancing them. This research aims to contribute to a deeper knowledge about the specificities of the public of Literary Festivals, framed in the segment of Event Tourism. It aims to analyse the existence of a niche market of Literary Festivals, the motivations that bring the public to the event, how they classify their experience, the degree of satisfaction they experience with the event, and the intention to return and recommend the event. A questionnaire survey was applied to 226 participants of the literary festival "Correntes d'Escritas, 2018". The results showed the existence of a niche market in the event, characterized by being mostly female, with higher qualifications, has above average incomes and is resident in the region. Cultural enrichment is the main reason for their displacement. The public shows a high degree of satisfaction with the event in general, especially with the organization and debates held, highlights the educational dimension of the experience, and intends to return and recommend the event.
