The transportation offer and the tourist demand in Brazil: a principal component analysis

The transport sector, in the tourism productive chain, represents the accessibility, that is, it makes the tourist destination and its attractions accessible to the tourist, it provides connection between the destination and the origin, it facilitates the movement of people. At the same time, it plays a facilitating role, a fundamental condition for the development of any destination. The main relationship established between the two areas, in a basic and elementary way, is that the transport sector is one of the pillars for the existence of tourism activity and influences the volume and attractiveness of tourist flows. However, when it comes to Brazil, there does the question about the relationship between transport and tourism, and what are the explanatory variables for the purposes of studies and management of public policy actions, which methods and techniques explain the relationship exist. With the aim of analyzing the relationship between transport and tourism in Brazil, the Principal Component Analysis was shown as adequate technique to the study, from a crossection the results point to a high correlation between the various aspects of transport supply And the tourist demand, constituting itself in structuring interactions to impel the development of the territory.
