Henrique de Senna Fernandes is considered one of the most representative writers of literature produced in Portuguese in Macau. With a fluid style and a privileged knowledge of the city’s geographic and human space, his narratives, from novels to short stories, are part of a production that has gained prominence in a panorama that also includes names such as Deolinda da Conceição, Ondina Braga, Fernanda Dias, Rodrigo Leal de Carvalho, António Correia and Carlos Morais José.
Regarding the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Henrique de Senna Fernandes (1923-2010), this work aims to report on the publication of the narratives of Miguel de Senna Fernandes (1961), the writer’s son, and the possible relationship that can be established between them and his father's narratives, considering how the passage of time and its contingencies, in addition to personal style, provoke differences that embody a distinct city. Miguel de Senna Fernandes has been publishing since 2018 on his personal blog, Crónicas à Sexta, from which he built his first book of short stories of the same name (2020), and is mainly known for the dramaturgies brought to the stage by the group Doci Papiaçam di Macau, founded in 1993. Reading and analysing some of the published short stories, including “Conversas da trança”, reveals the way in which, effectively, the lines of “Senna Fernandes” intersect, manifesting a true dialogue and confirming the main themes of the narrative of the two authors.
