Abstract

As a quite popular tool nowadays, social media are being used more and more for educational purposes in recent years. In the case of learning Portuguese as a Foreign Language, few studies demonstrate the advantages and disadn vantages of applying social media during the learning process from the students’ point of view. This study aims to present in detail the vision of ten Chinese learners who participated in two activities developed on the microblogging platform – Weibo. All participants were asked to answer eight questions in order to understand the differences brought by Weibo in learning, the attitude towards the use of the social media in learning and its advantages and disadvantages in their opinion shortly after finishing the activities. According to the interviewees, we concluded that Weibo can somehow build a natural learning environment for Portuguese as a Foreign Language.
