Contributions for the Study of Protocol Architectures for high-speed Lans

Abstract

This work relates the OSI model and the Pseudo-Star LAN, defining a fast and flexible protocol architecture. A new concept to access the Pseudo-Star LAN is introduced, based on the definition of a generic access interface (IAPE) and specialised access processors (PAPE). The protocols proposed to access the Pseudo-Star are the IEEE 802.3; a PAPE implementing the IBASES option (Starlan) was built. (...)
