Degradação de fibras ópticas devido à propagação de sinais de elevada intensidade

Abstract

The propagation of high power signals in optical fibers can lead to the fibre degradation and destruction. In this work we study three forms of degradation resulting from the high optical power propagation: i) increasing of the fiber coating temperature for bending situation; ii) degaradation of optical connectors; and iii) ignition and propagation of the fuse effect that can lead to the destruction of the optical fiber along several kilometres.
