Sistema de informação móvel de apoio à utilização dos transportes públicos de uma cidade

Abstract

The information related to transport services is very important to people’s orientation and mobility at the urban space. However, this information is not always accessible to citizens, being particularly serious the situation of people with visual handicap, namely blind people. Indeed, these ones cannot access to the graphic information that is usually related to these kind of services. The NetMapa system, developed in the scope of the NetMapaproject, under the cover of CITE 2000 program, aims to present information on transports, on an accessible way, basing on a data base system and in mechanisms that are able to present that information through text and voice, on a mobile support, when and where the user desires.
