Rima, palavra e movimento: diálogos entre o rap brasileiro e o rap português

Abstract

In this paper we will comparatively analyze raps by the Racionais MC's, of São Paulo, rapper MV Bill, of Rio de Janeiro, and Mind da Gap and Boss AC, of Portugal, in order to ascertain how the different lyrics of Brazilian and Portuguese rap discursively construct and represent the urban space and the periphery in Portugal and Brazil. We have chosen these rappers because they comprise significant and representative names in the backdrop of the Hip Hop movement in Brazil and in Portugal in today, with both practices emerging almost simultaneously. To analyze the structure of society and the critical questions asked by rap, the work of Foucault (2002a, 2002b, 2004) on the relationship between discourse, authorship, power and resistance is the theoretical and methodological framework on which this research is based.
