Abstract

This study aims to analyse the creativity involved in the performance Water Music, by Tan Dun. By identifying four key points of the work, it was examined its relations with creativity to understand the influences of the performer’s creative interference in the performance. The conclusions of this study demonstrate that the interpreter cannot disclaim the task of creating which is imposed on him/her and the level of his/her creative engagement bears a great influence on the character of interpretation, thus setting a creative and collaborative construction between the composer and performer.
