Event Tourism in Public Policies of Cities

Abstract

As with other economic activities, tourism needs to be planned in a harmonious way to benefit the tourist destination in question and its residents (Dalonso et. al, 2014; Uvinha, 2016). In order to understand the impacts of event tourism on improving the quality of life in cities, this study aims to understand the influence of events on the construction of public policies in the city of Joinville, SC, Brazil. Using the qualitative research method, through the application of a questionnaire to stakeholders related to the event tourism segment, as well as by analyzing the city's official and strategic documents, the aim is to elucidate the effective impact of event tourism on the implementation public policies that aim to improve the quality of life of resident populations.
