Abstract

Internet has changed the way people access any kind of information in daily life and the way we produce and share content. In this respect, social networks emerge as a part of a large number of people’s daily life. Hence, institutions take advantage of these platforms’ potential to disseminate their areas of interest. In this paper we focus on the analysis of YouTube channels and Facebook pages of two institutions dedicated to Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), intending to analyse ASD specific content. The methodological options are qualitative and the content analysis was made through webQDA. The results obtained allow to verify that both platforms are used to expose personal issues and to give positive feedback to institutions, and that the mostly referred ASD characteristics are routines; motor and sensorial skills; communication and social interaction; and autonomy and independence.
