Abstract

This integrative review study analyzed how the preparation of beginning school managers appears in academic literature, published in the last 5 years, using the Scielo, Eric, and Capes research bases. Out of the 229 collected articles, 12 were chosen for qualitative analysis, using the descriptors "preparation of school principals," "training of school principals," "beginning school principals," and "selection of school principals." The main findings were the inadequacy of current continuing education programs and the gap between the content offered in training programs and the demands of daily school management. A training program that considers the practical demands of beginning school managers can be considered a contribution to achieving quality education.
