Profile of School Principals and the Growth of Institutions in Private Education

Abstract: The relationship between the role of the school principal and the growth of institutions in private education can be crucial for educational success. Competent principals have the ability to set a clear vision and implement effective strategies for school development. Thus, the question arises: how could their leadership influence the growth in student numbers? What benefits can be achieved by a private school that attracts more students and improves its reputation? The purpose of this study is to conduct an integrative literature review in order to analyze the profile of the school principal, the strategies adopted in private education, and their impact on the growth in student numbers. Considering thus, the potential benefits that a private school can achieve by attracting more students and improving its reputation. For this purpose, research was conducted in the scientific databases CAPES PERIÓDICOS, ERIC, and SCIELO, covering a range of the last five years, using the descriptors: school principal, competence, leadership, school management, school manager. After filtering criteria, 21 articles were selected that served as the basis for the integrative analysis. The results indicated that the role of the school principal is essential for the growth and success of private educational institutions. Leadership competencies, strategic vision, efficient management, and pedagogical skills emerged as critical factors that positively influence the increase in student numbers and the improvement of the school's reputation, attracting and retaining a larger number of students.
