Abstract

Professional identity is constructed in the context of exercising the profession, a context imbued with the culture of the group to which it belongs. Thus, an employee's feeling of belonging to the institution implies, among other aspects, the extent to which the values that the institution has are incorporated by him and give him meaning and meaning to the work he develops. The objective of this research is to analyze, in the literature published over the last 5 years, how the teacher's sense of belonging to the institution is related to the understanding of institutional philosophy. The results indicate that teachers' sense of belonging is influenced by a variety of elements, including the social environment of the school in which they work, work engagement, interpersonal relationships and administrative support. There are positive impacts on the well-being and effectiveness of teachers, as well as the quality of students' educational lives. It is concluded, then, that the teacher's sentimental bond with the institution in which he works is associated with the incorporation of the school's values and the meaning they give to his work. This feeling is influenced by several elements, which, together, result in a strong sense of belonging, improving teacher well-being and effectiveness and raising the quality of education offered to all students.
