Abstract

The school, which performs an important social function, whether public or private, has the duty to prepare students to exercise their roles as students, active citizens and participants in the family, work, cultural and political life, as they are under the same legislation Brazilian education. With regard to private schools, it is understood that several factors can influence the choice process of parents and guardians when deciding where their dependents will study. For private schools, the methods adopted to attract new students are important, but the need to maintain students who already study at the institution becomes even greater, since the loyalty of this public becomes smaller. need to attract new students and the school has the opportunity to complete its training objective with students. This research aimed to conduct an integrative review of the literature in search of studies that address the proposed topic, and for this purpose the Periódicos Capes, Scielo and Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) databases were accessed, using an integrated method with the following descriptors : Quality of Education, Basic Education, Private Education, Permanence and Dropout Management, from 2014 to 2023, in the languages: English, Portuguese and Spanish. During data collection, 237 articles were found, 7 of which were used for qualitative analysis. It is concluded that studies on the subject are diverse, especially with regard to concerns about school dropout and quality of teaching.
