We live in a digital age and teachers play an essential role in preparing students for the digital world. Developing digital competencies allows teachers to teach effectively using technological tools, preparing students for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. Thus, the main objective of this study was to conduct a systematic literature review to find studies that address teacher training for the development of digital and pedagogical competencies, preferably primary school teachers. Conducting this research based on the PRISMA methodology provided a rigorous and comprehensive approach to analyzing the existing literature on the subject. The search took place in the CAPES, SCIELO and ERIC databases from 2019 to 2023. Studies published in English, Portuguese or Spanish were selected. Of the 162 articles initially identified, after initial exclusions, 51 were assigned for full reading, 16 of which were subjected to a more in-depth qualitative analysis. The results show that the research addresses a variety of topics, from teacher self-assessment to influencing factors such as age, gender and educational level. These variables reveal the complexity of the scenario, highlighting the need for personalized approaches and training programs that consider the specificities of each group. In this way, this study can contribute to an in-depth understanding of the subject, serving as a basis for practical initiatives aimed at promoting quality education in the digital age.
