The COVID-19 pandemic, among many other impacts on society, directly affected the educational system around the world. In the Brazilian reality, the student society and all school actors involved had to adapt their routines to a new education system, operated by digital platforms. Teachers sought the necessary skills to take the teaching to their students in the best possible way, but, in this new scheme, how to develop affection without direct physical contact and still motivate a harmonious and charismatic environment of trust with children? The purpose of this article is to present how it is possible - and essential - to develop affectivity in virtual learning environments, through the analysis of a lecture with experts in the field, as well as live chat comments. Studies carried out on how to develop an affective environment demonstrate that there are several possible techniques to motivate the student to active participation, as well as making him feel “close” and welcomed in a virtual learning environment.
