Abstract

Globalization imposes a dynamic exchange of knowledge. In today's society, the debate about human
sexuality goes beyond the school environment, and enhanced by Information and Communication Technologies. This paper analyzed the pedagogical potential of 67 You Tube videos about sexual education. The analysis took into account the content and discourse in the videos, the form of presentation, the target audience, the video genre, the main subject and the sexual education approaches. You Tube videos are a significant tool that can be using for educational purposes. However, the selection of these videos are not easy. It requires from the teacher prior evaluation of those videos that can contribute to the awakening of critical consciousness. Among the analyzed sample, the animations represent a possibility to streamline and modify instruction. In considering the different approaches to sexual education, there was a predominance of the biological and hygienist approach.
