Abstract

The rise in life expectancy has allowed advances to the world's population, however, regarding health, this reality has made people more susceptible to debilitating diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this context, it is observed that the need to care for others is increasing, exercised by Informal Caregivers (CI) such as family, friends and neighbors who perform this task in a spontaneous manner and without training. Focused on this, using a qualitative study, we present the IC experiences on the act of taking care of a family member with AD through 20 witnesses using Corpus Latent Internet, available on the site of a Portuguese Association. It was concluded that the reports of the IC contributes to the understanding of taking care of people with AD and evidences the lack of support, information and interventional actions to improve the IC welfare.
