Abstract

Objective: to know the potentialities in the professional education process to promote the insertion in the labor market from the perspective of graduates from a Undergraduate Nursing Course from the Itajubá city, Minas Gerais. Methodology: it’s a qualitative approach, an exploratory, descriptive and transversal type, without adoption of a type of sampling. The research was developed in the city of Itajubá, located in the south of the Minas Gerais state, Brazil, and carried out with 30 nurses, with functions in the hospital and Public Health area, using a semi-structured interview script. The study presents, therefore, the potentialities in the process of professional formation for insertion and performance in the scope of primary care and secondary health care from the perspective of nursing graduates. The data obtained were analyzed on the Social Representation Theory framework adopting the Discourse of the Collective Subject as method of analysis. Results: there emerged 12 Social Representations, among which prevailed “Theoretical-practical teaching”, “Diversity of fields of curricular internship”, “Institution of teaching conceptualized”, “Professional ethics” and “Intense demand of teachers”. Conclusions: it is evident the need to maintain and strengthen the potentialities developed in the training process of the nurse professional. It is necessary that the institutions aim to adapt to the new skills and competences that the job market demands to meet the real needs of the population, thus satisfying the National Curricular Guidelines for the Undergraduate Nursing Course.
