One of the main challenges of today’s society is the education of citizens capable of intervening in a critical, informed and responsible way in solving day-to-day problems and participating in the ever-changing world. To that end, some researchers have warned of the importance and necessity of Science Education since the early years, guided by the Science-Technology-Society (STS) orientation. This proposal advocates a holistic view of the sciences and privileges, among others, the daily questions of the students. In this context, an investigation of the integrative type carried out in the 20 researches on which this article falls. In order to fulfill the purpose of synthesizing and defining the current status of research at the national level within the framework of Science Education with CTS orientation, a detailed research was done in the repositories of some Higher Education Institutions of Portugal. This research resulted in some studies that were carefully analyzed and allowed to create a documentary corpus where strategies and didactic resources that can be implemented in the classroom are compiled. In spite of the still small number of investigations in this area, it is clearly noticeable the unanimity among all of them regarding the importance of the CTS orientation in Science Education, among others, to favor a contextualized teaching.
