Considering articulations between references of Science-Technology-Society and the Freirean Thematic Approach, we intend to discuss the approaches to both perspectives in Science Teaching, reflecting on the impacts on teacher education and for the formation of subjects active in making decisions related to Science and Technology in society. It is a qualitative research, which it was supported by a narrative review of literature searching for interventions and proposals of teaching and curricular reconfigurations. We perceive that the two perspectives problematize dominant values incorporating political, social, ideological, ethical and environmental discussions, they deal with present themes in questions of students’ context and mobilize for collective work in teaching practices. In the revised works we identify some related to teaching directed to the formative processes of teachers. We emphasize the importance of discussions about new curricular configurations in a critical and contextualized perspective.
