In this work, we introduce the construction of a theoretical framework for the design of activities within the Technology Education (TE) or Design Education (DE), grounded on the modelling-based teaching and the Science, Technology and Society Studies (STSS). With the theoretical framework as a starting point, some guidelines for the design of activities are postulated. At the same time, a disciplinary, relatively conventional, theoretical theme is chosen and, following the guidelines, a chemistry lab work is set up for the university level with a purely technological design approach. Finally, some experimental methods are enumerated by means of which the effectiveness of the approach will be evaluated.
