Analysis of the themes and keywords of the STS area in the Teaching of Sciences from Brazilian Theses and Dissertations

Abstract

The Science, Technology and Society (STS) literature in the area of Teaching and Education have been growing in Brazil, having the same representation in the educational documents guiding the Brazilian education. As the literature on those topics increase, many studies look for their State of the Art. This paper intends to understand the relationship of the keywords used in all the theses and dissertations published in Brazil from 1992 to 2017. Assisted by a network analysis software, a network of keywords was generated, aiming to identify how the 642 cataloged subjects approaches the STS and how those are related to the STS. The conclusion of this research demonstrates that subjects such as the teaching of science, physics and chemistry are widely discussed in these works, and that there is also a concern over discussions of STS the academic education of both the teachers and students.
