This paper reports research that produces a prospective understanding of the university of the future. The study establishes a 20 year horizon and supports the analysis of this situation on a model composed of markers and conceived considering the classic definition of university, organizational models and predetermined scenarios. The application and validation of the model uses an empirical dimension consisting of a sample of n = 51 participants. The qualitative and quantitative information gathered comes from diverse sources of opinion / information in the context of the discussion of hypothetical scenarios, of theoretical construct. Audiovisual recording instruments and mixed techniques were used: worksheets, questionnaires, observation and valuation scales. The contributions of the application of this model are translated into an optimized systematization of opinions, validation of the model, generalization of the process to other contexts of reflection, hybrid qualitative-quantitative techniques that allow a greater valuation of the qualitative results supported by the descriptive statistics summaries of the corresponding quantitative data.
