This paper discusses the ways 12th form students of non-vocational humanistic science courses, located in relatively disadvantaged schools and communities, build their citizenship. In the intersection of gender, regionalism and school achievement, the main dimension is gender. Young voices are heard about specific and complex questions that affect their lives. Citizenship and voice are theorized. Methodologicaly, we resort to focus group discussion and individual interviews.
