The HIV / AIDS is not only a physic epidemic but it is also social, for the reason that it has been implied to issues such as discrimination, fear of public exposition and fear of death. In this context, this study aimed at investigating the meanings produced by young people who have been living with HIV/AIDS about prejudice undergone by them for having been living with HIV / AIDS and meanings about the impact of the experiences with HIV / AIDS in their future perspectives. The theoretical-methodological approach was guided by the Social Constructionism. This study investigated six young people who have living with HIV / AIDS, all of them aged 18 through 24 years. The research was carried out by means of semi-structured interviews and analysis process was done in three distinct phases: 1. Reading the transcripts according to the floating strategy 2. Elaborating content maps with the texts from the interviews and 3. Analyzing the meanings observed in maps based on the three times: long, lived and short. The results and conclusions revealed: that in the long time emerged socially historic meanings constructed in association to the idea that still exists “risk groups”, that the prejudices related to the idea of “risk groups” constructed in the long time were materialized in discrimination and stigmatization in the lived time. It was observed that in the short time, the fear of social prejudice seemed to be greater than the fear of death. Although there were meanings associated to fears related to such thoughts, it was observed that even the participants have been living with HIV / AIDS, they comprehend their future as an ongoing process, where it is possible to have hope.
