The use and abuse of alcohol and other drugs in the population is a complex issue that affects the health sector representing a public health emergency. In Brazil it has been care service in an open system of social reintegration, the Center for Psychosocial Care (CAPS). The objective of the study was to analyze the search for help from people who have difficulty dealing with use and consumption of alcohol and other drugs in a CAPS host groups. This is a research participant, 12 subjects who attended the 4 group sessions and spoke about the search for help. The empirical material underwent analysis in thematic content. All ethical precepts as binding the subjects in this study were guarded. 2 categories of analysis emerged ‘host groups as a tool for coping’ and ‘Facing relapse’. The service group provides a humanized and the establishment of a strategy for coping with difficulties arising from the misuse of psychoactive substances. Relapse is a term used by group members, the family being the central motif of users crave the fight against this. Finally, we consider the group host a strategy for meeting the health needs by listening and expansion of networks, with a view to achieving these social actors to help treat and if reaproximarem family.
